It’s funny whenever you meet Americans when your a Canadian backpacking around in a foreign country, they usually have the most misinformed opinion of who we actually are as a country and a people. We met a few last night who kept asking questions about if we actually said things like “side by each” and a bunch of other things I’ve never heard before. One thought Saskatchewan was in Europe. You cant blame them though, they just live in a very insulated society as one put it. I thought it fitting to teach them the call of the great white north (Bob and Doug Mackenzie for those who don’t know) and they never stopped the rest of the night! Most Americans that we meet traveling turn out to be ok people, they just have a stupid government.

This morning we took it a little easy, we figured we would catch the bus over to a small village called Saiko Iyashi-no-sato that was recently rebuilt after a huge mudslide destroyed the original in 1966. Nothing to special but they’re were some really cool thatched roofs and more spectacular views of Mt.Fuji from the area. It’s a shame that the pictures will never do the real thing justice, it’s one of those things that you really need to be in the presence of to fully feel. I think tomorrow we will try to catch a bus up to one of the higher huts on the edge and try to get a little better view.
