Or so the sign said at least… I never saw him there, but there was quite a few posters of the old Adam west series. Apparently the raw beauty of the caves we went to visit today isn’t enough. The first cave that we went to was called the Bat Cave. Not for the bats, although there may have been some at some time. It was probably the neatest of all the caves we visited today. The ceiling and the floor were made from lava flows, so they had lots of really interesting designs and textures to them. We both smacked our heads a couple of times but luckily they gave us helmets. The neat thing about the tunnels is they go up and down and small corridors connect big caves to each other. Mike was pretty sad when he saw that parts of them had been blocked off by a fences, so he couldn’t go any farther. He still had a really good time though.
We also checked out three other caves today: Lava Cave, Ice Lava Cave, and some random one on the side of the road while we were waiting for the bus. It’s actually starting to be fall here now, my cheeks and nose were cold and I had to wear my fleece.
I took lots of pictures today, not all of them turned out of course. It’s hard to take pictures inside dark caves with no flash! On our bus ride back, the bus was so packed that we had to stand beside the driver and I got to feeling sick again (big surprise). We hopped off the bus and headed out for a late lunch (around 3 or so) and once we got inside the restaurant it started pouring! Good timing on our part.
So we decided to check out the onsen that is right behind our hostel and now we’ve just got back from it. Another one of those public bath public nudity things. There wasn’t really anyone in the ladies side until I was getting ready to leave, but it was a really nice bath. No naked ladies today, sorry. There were two inside and a outdoor one, it was really nice, but it sounds like the guy’s one was nicer! Mike said that there wasn’t a lot of guys in his either, but a few checked him out because he “forgot” his little towel to cover his privates.
So now we’re relaxing and downloading pictures to upload to facebook from today.
