Fukuoka

Well, we’ve arrived in Fukuoka, also known as Hakata and we’ve spent the day wandering around and just relaxing.  We stopped at the train station and picked up some tourist information then made our way over to a place called Canal City.  We got a little bit lost though and ended up walking through the Red Light district where they had a bunch of strip clubs or brothels or something that even at 10 in the morning were open for business.  We’re not entirely sure what they were, but it cost 150 dollars for 60 minutes.

After we left the sexy part of town (haha, yeah right) we went to the Canal City shopping mall and spent an hour or two there.  Mike ended up buying a really nice jacket, and I got a couple of things from the capsule machines (toy machines).  They also had a pet store in this mall with tiny little critters called Dwarf Hamsters.  They were so cute they were walking on their back legs with their little front paws in the air!  I love critters.

After the mall we went over to the main shopping place and moseyed around for a while, neither of us got anything though.  We did come to an anime store that had some second hand cosplay costumes.  I almost bought one, but the jacket part was pretty heavy and I didn’t want to carry it around with me for another two months.

A funny thing about shopping here (and in most of Japan) is that if you wanted to, you could probably spend a couple of days straight going from different shopping mall to shopping mall without ever going outside.  Most of them are connected, there are some underground, and they usually go up anywhere between 5 and 10 floors.

Well, that’s it for now, we’re both pretty tired.  No pictures today, I didn’t bring my camera with me!
